At Highland Hospital, our Critical Care team provides care for patients in the Intensive Care Unit. We employ state-of-the-art technology to provide compassionate patient-centered care for patients suffering from acute respiratory failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, cardiac dysfunction, renal failure and neurologic disorders. We also care for patients after they have had major surgical procedures such as vascular surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, and neurosurgery.
The new Intensive Care Unit has an increased capacity from 20 rooms to 24.

Two waiting rooms, with spectacular views of the surrounding Oakland community, are on the ICU floor to accommodate more than one family.
Highest Quality of Care
The new tower has also been designed to promote the highest quality of care with three nursing stations at 3 points of access on each floor, allowing nurses and physicians to be in close proximity to patients thereby affording them more time at the bedside. In addition there are bariatric lifts in each room and customized flooring that absorbs noise, and increases comfort underfoot to comfort, and promote a soothing environment.
