Podiatry

Highland Hospital’s Podiatry Department is composed of five podiatric physicians who have extensive experience treating conditions of the foot and ankle. Their specialties are in the areas of foot and ankle surgery, wound care, biomechanics, sports medicine, diabetic foot care, and dermatology.

We have a full podiatry inpatient and outpatient clinical service and work closely with the Emergency Department with 24-hour on-call coverage.  We make full use of the staff expertise and modern technology of a major medical center.

Among the conditions our experience team treats are:

  • Ingrown toenails
  • Fungal infections of the toenails and skin
  • Calluses
  • Warts
  • Neuromas
  • Heel pain/spurs
  • Bunions
  • Hammertoes
  • Flat feet/high arches
  • Arthritis
  • Strains/sprains of the foot and ankle
  • Tendonitis, tendon tears and ruptures
  • Foot and ankle fractures
  • Bone and soft tissue tumors
  • Peripheral neuropathy
  • Wound care
  • Venous and arterial insufficiency
  • Foot infections/limb salvage

Our treatment philosophy stresses the importance of patient and family education.   We make sure the patient and family fully understands his/her diagnosis and treatment options in order to be able to make an informed decision about future care.   Conservative treatment options are discussed, as are surgical options, if necessary.
